About Us
The WELSCH Legacy: Engineering in our DNA
Two Generations of Surgical Precision (1968–Present)
At WELSCH, our expertise is not just learned; it is inherited and refined. Our history is defined by continuous mechanical evolution, spanning over 55 years of industrial innovation and a relentless commitment to the high-velocity production of concrete roof tiles.
A Foundation of Industrial Mastery (1968–1990s)
The WELSCH engineering philosophy began in 1968. Our founder’s father, a visionary designer of production machinery, spent decades at the forefront of custom industrial engineering. From the 1990s until his formal retirement, he led a specialized engineering center, solving complex mechanical challenges across diverse industries. Today, he remains a vital senior consultant to our team, ensuring that “Old World” standards of durability and mechanical integrity are never lost.
The Path of the Diplom-Ingenieur (1993–1997)
Following this tradition of excellence, our company founder graduated as a Diplom-Ingenieur from Bochum University in 1993. Before entering the roofing sector, this academic foundation was tested in the high-pressure environments of the automotive industry and the precision-driven wood processing sector. This cross-industry experience provided a unique perspective on high-speed synchronization and material handling that would later redefine the roofing industry.
The Redland Era & The Culture of Self-Reliance (1997–2003)
In 1997, this expertise was integrated into BRAAS Maschinen- und Anlagenbau, a key subsidiary of the Redland Roofing Systems Technical Division. Unlike most concrete roof tile producers who relied on external suppliers like Vortex Hydra or Abece, Redland and Braas maintained a fierce tradition of self-reliance, designing and building their own proprietary machinery in-house.
As a Plant Engineering Manager within this elite division until 2001, our founder operated at the heart of the group’s technical centers in Germany and the UK. We were developing the specialized, proprietary machinery that was never available on the open market and eventually became the global industry standard.
The Birth of WELSCH: Bridging the Gap
When the Redland technical centers closed in 2001, a massive void was left in the market. WELSCH INDUSTRIAL was founded in 2003 to fill that gap—not just as a service provider, but as the successor to a legacy of elite, in-house engineering.
Today, we take the “indestructible logic” of the 1970s–1990s era and fuse it with state-of-the-art mechatronics. While we do not manufacture 1:1 replicas (except for specific authorized projects for BMI), our entire portfolio is infused with this unique Redland DNA. We take the most brilliant, proprietary mechanical souls of that period and re-engineer them through process-driven customization and modern electronic control systems.
Engineering Excellence
From our ContiAct® Tile Machines to our Pallet End Cleaners and Packaging Systems, our portfolio is built to perform, built to last, and built by a family that understands the pulse of the factory. We don’t just build machines; we orchestrate flow with the precision of a German Engineer and the rugged reliability of an industry legend.
Expertise
With excellent training and extremely sound specialist knowledge, many years of professional experience and high motivation, we are your renowned specialist for special machine construction and sustainable, results-oriented maintenance with our current team of engineers and technicians.
Practical Approach
Then as now, we share an extremely high practical relevance to our work. In addition to the function of components, machines and systems, we were and are used to also questioning the construction underlying the component.
Quality
Maximum availability of resources and the associated economic efficiency are the essential basis of our thinking and actions. We build our business relationships with values that may have already been forgotten, such as honesty, openness, reliability and fairness.
