Cheek Plates

Description
The final stage of the extrusion chamber is where the concrete ribbon takes its definitive shape. Our high-performance cheek plates are the stationary gatekeepers of this process. Engineered to withstand the extreme lateral pressures of high-speed extrusion, they provide the rigid boundary required for a perfectly dimensioned tile.
Standard steel cheek plates are a primary source of friction and quality loss. As the concrete ribbon is forced past a stationary steel wall, it creates surface drag, which leads to micro-tearing and density variations at the tile's edge. At WELSCH, we solve this through advanced metallurgy and precision-ground finishes. We manufacture our cheek plates from vacuum-hardened Wolfram tool steel, precision-ground to a low-friction mirror finish. This reduces the drag coefficient, allowing the concrete to flow smoothly while maintaining a razor-sharp edge.
For high-speed lines at 150+ TPM, we offer cheek plates with full surface tungsten carbide cladding. This diamond-class armor ensures that the plate thickness remains constant, preventing the widening of the ribbon that occurs as standard plates wear down. Our cheek plates are machined to micro-tolerances to interface perfectly with your end discs and slippers, creating a zero-leakage fit that prevents concrete flashing. Built with a massive cross-section, our plates do not flex under extreme internal pressure, ensuring identical tile width from the first pallet of the shift to the last.
True to our premium engineering philosophy, our cheek plates are engineered for a perfect drop-in fit for heritage Redland Technologies and Powell Automation machines, with adjustable mounting points for fine-tuning the gap to the pallet with absolute precision.
