Description

In the high-speed world of concrete extrusion, the round-nose knife is the final arbiter of quality. A clean, defect-free separation at speeds of 150+ TPM requires more than just a sharp edge; it requires a blade precisely tuned to the specific mineralogy of your sand. At WELSCH, we offer four distinct series of round-nose knives engineered to maximize service life and eliminate the dreaded end-slump.

The ECO Series is our global bestseller, providing a high-performance engineering alternative to standard serial knives. Crafted from high-strength chrome-manganese steel and precision case-hardened, it delivers 170,000 to 220,000 cuts of reliable performance. The most cost-effective solution for river-sand mixes.

The SV3 Series is engineered for the world's most demanding production environments using highly abrasive, high-silica sands. Manufactured from high-alloyed Wolfram tool steel, through-hardened in a vacuum furnace to 60-64 HRC, achieving 280,000 to 350,000 cuts. While the initial investment is approximately 50% higher than the ECO series, the SV3 nearly doubles the maintenance interval.

The Vario Blade Series offers a sophisticated composite approach with a 3D-formed tool steel body paired with a fully hardened back blade. Featuring precision-slotted mounting holes, the blade can be pushed down as it wears, maintaining pallet-edge contact without replacing the entire assembly.

The TC Series uses a high-tensile carrier body armed with precision-brazed tungsten carbide segments along the entire cutting edge, providing diamond-class hardness for 24/7 operations. Specifically recommended for high-aesthetic lines where inductive heating is used and the cut must be surgically perfect, shift after shift.

Frequently Asked Questions

We prescribe based on mineralogy. ECO for river sand, SV3 for abrasive high-silica sands (50% higher cost but nearly doubles service life), Vario for adjustable depth maintenance, TC for 24/7 zero-downtime operations.
Worn knives losing their profile geometry. Our SV3 and TC series maintain their surgical edge far longer than standard knives, eliminating the end-slump that compromises tile quality.
At approximately 50% higher cost, the SV3 nearly doubles the maintenance interval (280,000-350,000 vs 170,000-220,000 cuts), significantly reducing downtime in aggressive-sand regions.
